When we were younger we didn't really get pocket money, not like the kids of today expect. Though mum did give us money to go swimming and the Saturday morning pictures, and some money to get munch on the way to school.
Do you give your kids pocket money every week?
How much do you give them? and do they still ask for more? lol _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

I remember getting a shilling (equiv. 10p) on a Friday night. That was for the Saturday matinee and some sweets. Still had a little change over.
By the time my kids came it was up to £1. What a laugh nowadays. That wouldn't buy much now |

i didn't get pocket money when i was a kid, but i didn't get money either lol. my kids do though, and its dependant on age, and what jobs they do, so here's what they get...
Hollie 14..... £5.00 per week....for that she strips and puts on the girls bedding every week, and puts away her own clothes.
Ash 13..... £5.00 per week. Strips and changes boys bedroom beds, and puts away own clothes
Lauren 11 (just had a raise from £3.00 to £5.00 as she's going up to secondary school) load dishwasher every day and put away own clothes
Maisie 9.... £3.00 empty dishwasher every other day and put away own clothes
Connor 8 £3.00 empty dishwasher every other day and put away own clothes.
i do think its important for them to have their own money, but i don't think they should get it for nothing, not do i think they should have tons of chores either, and i think i've got the balance ok. They do earn extras aswell if they want more money. _________________ Housework is a complete waste of time. You just get it finished, then 6 months later you have to start all over again!

Sounds like you've got it just right Shell. Gawd I'm glad I only have two!! lol
Up until a few months back, ours used to get £5 too. But we gave them a raise to £10. For that, they each in turn either wipe or put away the tea things after I've washed them. They make one cup of tea each during the evening, and they have to put their clothes away. Which I have to admit has been slipping over the hols, with thier piles getting bigger and bigger in the bedroom until once a week I MAKE them go put them away
Out of thier tenner, they would usually put £5 credit on their phones, and the rest, Scott would mostly save, and Mart would waste on food of some description.
Martin, starting college next week should be entitled to EMA (learning support money). I've told him, to his dismay, that once he gets that he will no longer get pocket money from us. _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

that sounds about right aswell. hollie has a paper round and gets a tenner a week from that, so she's pretty much rolling in it lol, and wastes it most of the time unless she has xmas or birthdays to save for. _________________ Housework is a complete waste of time. yeah I remember collecting Corona bottles and coke bottles to return to the local pub for cash. Penny for the guy in November and Carol singing for extras at Christmas too _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |
