| when I"ve taken pills back to chemist before I asked what they do with them and they have to throw them away , wether you open a pkt or not , seems such a waste with price of meds , but I suppose they have to for safety reasons . |

Bought a lovely chiffon type ruffle blouse with under vest, and diamonte buttons, for only 12 quid out of Matalans. Also bought a new sparkly necklace, matching earrings and some bangles. _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

HMV - the original 5 Planet Of The Apes films + a bonus disc in a set for only £7!!
sunday:
Homebase - kettle drum BBQ (i.e: a basic round one on 3 or 4 legs), discontinued line, original summer season price of £24.99 now £3.99!! had to get one.
Play.com - then in the afternoon i was chrimbo shopping for my brother & noticed the old pre-fame Jackie Chan subtitled DVDs were a third of their usual price, so had to buy me seven of them (almost replaced all my Jackie VHS films now - phew! took a while!) |

Bargains Skips!!! I bought my BBQ for a pittance the year before in the winter sales, best way to do it imo. Just wish I'd have thought about buying a new Christmas Tree in the summer sales lol _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

I think you should suggest to Homebase that the latest trend is to have pre-Crimbo sales, so they can reduce their trees NOW, that's if they have any lol...oh and don't forget to give us the heads up when they are going to do it! _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

Oh Skip....the whole 5!
I have 4 but only the first 2 are original disks, Escape from....and Conquest for.... are copies and I have never been able to get hold of the final one (Battle for?)
Not that I have gone out of my way to look but they were great movies weren't they?
I love the 2000 version of POTA too, with Mark Wahlberg, only thing is, I can't understand the ending....any ideas?
Well not buying but selling....I have advertised my treadmill and bar fridge for sale. I have had the first response today for the TM. I hope I can get rid of them, they are just taking up space and collecting dust.
I've got heaps of bits and pieces in my guest room waiting for us to organise a garage sale....yeah one day LOL _________________ We're the pride of South Australia...we're the mighty ADELAIDE CROWS..... |

i think it was Battle... (might e confused with Conquest... ) which was my second fave (after original, of course) where the apes are being trained as servants in contemporary L.A. (?) & treat rather badly causing them to revolt against their human superiors, it was kinda violent & i think at the time was quite controversial as i believe it mirrored race riots in America at that time!!??
2000 POTA? good production & Wahlberg is great leading man, but i think it wasn't a patch on the Heston version... the ending? i think that was where a chimp piloted the spacecraft solo or something?? can't remember, only watched it once. |

I have Click and Knocked-up, both good movies. I don't think I've seen the other one though.
The Wahlberg version of POTA ended yes, with the chimp piloting in, they believed he was the returning of their God (Seemoss) or something like that. Wahlberg handed the chimp to Helena Bonham-Carter and took off in the pod. He supposed to have gone back through that cloud and therefore back in time but when he landed on Earth, it was already controlled by apes. I thought perhaps they had left it open for a sequel but who knows?
Hub and I came to the conclusion that we are not buying each other gifts this year. We'll wait till the new year and decide what we want. We have bought each other stuff for the house before now. For example, one year I bought him a new BBQ and he bought me a new outdoor setting.
Another time I bought him a bar and he bought me a lounge suite...LOL sounds funny but we get what we want that way.
We went food shopping yesterday (we don't often do that together these days) anyhow, I noticed a Bread baking machine in the shop on special, I told Dave that he could get me one of those. I had one years ago and used it every day. He too looked at the electrical stuff on special and noticed they had an electric wok, he said he wouldn't mind one of those, so it looks like our christmas wish-lists are done LOL. That was until this morning.....I was looking around my kitchen wondering where on earth I can put this new stuff that we haven't even got yet! I decided that what we need is one of those trolley things that you can store stuff on and hide in the corner LOL. I haven't told hubby yet but it sounds like a plan to me!
Hubby is a big one for brand names. If it has a known brand name and it costs a small fortune, then it has to be alright, according to him.
He decided yesterday that we need a Turkey breast roll for over Xmas (even though we won't be christmassing at home this year)
He pointed out to me that there is a 1kg roll which costs $18.99 and then there is a 2kg roll which costs $35 so by buying the 2kg roll we are saving. Yes, I see his point, but as we are not having christmas dinner at home and I am not particularly fond of turkey anyway, why go for the larger one anyway? I then noticed another brand, the shop generic brand, 1kg roll for only $13. So I pointed this out. We got into a small dispute about the brands....geeze! I then reminded him that last year, he bought 2 of these...one was the brand he knew and the other was the shop generic but in a different box. He remarked to me how much nicer the generic one was. He obviously had forgotten LOL.
In his defence he pointed to the pictures on both boxes and said "but this one looks nicer than that one" (Pointing to the known brand)
LOL men.......what would we do without them ay?
Oh, we ended up with the 1kg generic. _________________ We're the pride of South Australia...we're the mighty ADELAIDE CROWS..... |

lmao I'm so glad Paul doesn't have any input on that sort of thing! I've yet to get my turkey, but will look this week.
The kitchen store thingy sounds good, especially if you're going to buy the electrics. Are there lots of sales over there Brenda like here? It's brilliant over here this year for picking up a bargain, I just wondered if other parts of the world are doing it too.
So you've decided to go to your daughters for Crimbo dinner then? _________________ If you see someone without a smile.....give them yours |

Yes, sales are sales, just the same. Then we get the after Christmas sales, the January sales, the back to school sales, easter sales, mother's day, father's day, not-having-a-sale sale....LOL you name it!
We had a rug shop here who had a closing down sale about 5 or 6 times before they actually closed down! I think it got to the point where everyone thought they were just making it up and never going to close LOL. _________________ We're the pride of South Australia...we're the mighty ADELAIDE CROWS..... |
